message from Mr. Siddhartha Bhattacharya

From the Desk of the Secretary General
Healthcare Federation of India (NATHEALTH)
December, 2018

Dear NATHEALTH Members,
Healthcare in India is at an inflection point. 2018 has been truly a remarkable year as the Government has made a commitment to building a stronger health system by augmenting the financing and provisioning of healthcare. This is a strong statement of intent and the vision needs to be backed by equally robust implementation and financial commitment. The private sector in India has made significant inroads into the broader eco system of heath, accounting for nearly 70% of the health care services delivered.  Private sector has also acquired significant expertise in creating the value chain required to deliver healthcare to the door step right from human resources, medicines, manufacturing, labs/diagnostics, digital health, supply chain and export of healthcare services.

Inspite of the many strengths in India, universal healthcare remains out of the reach of many citizens and while the world is moving towards value based healthcare, India is yet to develop a comprehensive framework on how to address the myriads of challenges and make healthcare accessible, affordable, equitable and high quality. This requires a strategic dialogue among key stakeholders who needs to reflect on the issues and commit to challenging the status quo. Partnerships will be key and solutions will emerge out of cumulative voice and insights of the health eco system.

NATHEALTH has been created with the Vision to “Be the credible and unified voice in improving access and quality of healthcare”. Leading Healthcare Service Providers, Medical Technology Providers (Devices, Equipment & IT), Diagnostic Service Providers, Health Insurance companies, Health Education Institutions, Medical Journalism companies, Biotech/Life sciences related companies, Healthcare Publishers, Healthcare Consultants, Home Healthcare companies, PE & VC companies and other stakeholders have come together to build NATHEALTH as a common platform to create the next level of momentum in Indian Healthcare.

NATHEALTH, in the current context and landscape of Indian healthcare, is ideally positioned to be the platform which drives this strategic dialogue and the agenda.  NATHEALTH will work with its members and external stakeholders to develop meaningful solutions that can propel the vision of “Swasthya India- a Healthy India for all”.

On behalf of the Secretariat, our leadership team and members, we wish everyone the best for few remaining weeks of 2018 and we look forward to working closely in 2019 and making it impactful!

With best wishes,

Siddhartha Bhattacharya
